 About Me

Clare Hughes picture

I have been teaching the Alexander Technique for over 30 years. This makes me one of the most experienced teachers in Sussex.

I have taught at various locations in the U.K. and Australia and worked with a diverse range of people in my private practice.  It has been my privilege to work on four different Alexander training courses; most recently on one in Brighton for 12 years where I became Assistant Director.  I have been involved with teaching young musicians at St Mary’s Music school, Edinburgh and the East Sussex Preparatory music course.  Over the years I have run many introductory groups but currently focus on offering individual lessons, mainly in Brighton where I live.

I love teaching this unique method.  Despite having a wealth of experience I continue to learn from both my clients and the Continuous Professional Development workshops I attend.

  • I am a member of STAT (The Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique)

A few years ago I trained to teach the Shaw Method of Swimming- swimming based on principles of the Alexander technique. About half my time is currently spent teaching in the water. See my other website www.alexanderswimming.co.uk for details.
